To have a good solar powered water heating system, you first have to have the 'solar' part...
Our liquid sunshine does nothing to heat up the water in such a system...
For the shower, I am thinking of using a ball valve, after the mixing valve.
The way it would work is to put a spring on the handle of the ball valve. Use a spring that is strong enough to pull the valve, but not much stronger.
Then put a cable on the other side of the handle. Run that cable to a board at your feet.
Want water, step on the board. Step off the board to let the spring pull the valve back shut again.
Leaves both hands free for lathering, and/or rinse assist.
Put a loop in the cable at some convenient point, and a peg in the wall, to pull that loop over, should you want to just turn the water on and leave it on.
And I'd suggest that you pull those ornamental lights down, before you take a shower there. LOL
I'll probably just look for a used natural gas water heater, and run that with propane. (The natural gas jets are smaller. Saves some, on propane. LOL)
