You are right - wouldn't mean much to them. They have been informed numberous times, but the little tiny signals that come back down are that they interpret that information as "Oh, he/she is just a complainer, so that doesn;t mean very much"
There are ***at least*** two moderators. Robynn and JP. JP seems to be more busy with the technical aspects of running the site. Nobody at Taunton gets paid full time for moderating the forums, not is there a need to, I believe. But the inconsistency probably devolves from multiple AHJs
but for instance, this latest fiasco where they shut down a perfectly good thread in knee-jerk fashion, it would have been far more expedient to add a note pointing out that the boundary of civility was being approached. Or the two wise guy comments in the whole thread could have been deleted with warnings to the poster.
Then once the mods went over the line and closed the discussion, it would have been easy and fair to simply apologize for the error and re-instate it.
Either action would have taken one simple action. Instead, they end up with my choice of re-establishing the discussion in another thread, and the need to address you in dictatorial fashion a number of times and stir the shit, angering at least two long time beneficial members.
The arms length uncommunicative approach may appear to them to be the easy thing for a poorly paid job, but it is destructive to the forum, and to the relationship between Taunton and the members who contribute to the community.
To be fair, In past years, I have had communications from other professionals who have made the statement that they avoid the BT forums precisely BECAUSE of a couple of individuals who have now recently been banned, and the behaviour they exhibited. I surmise that if these folks have let ME know how they feel and why they choose to avoid BT, they may well have made their thoughts known to the Mods as well. So they probably hear a lot of complaints but I think they are trying to deal with it all in scattergun fashion rather than surgically.
I also feel fine with admitting there are probably at least two people who have chosen to avoid BT because of me.
So maybe the world is in balance, and we just don't see it because none can know the metaphysical will of the Lords of Tauntonville....
