Why do you suppose that the hammer loops on carpenter style pants and bibs, etc. are on the LEFT side????

Do only left-handed guys/gals wear these things??

Inquiring minds want to know.

To be honest, I have no idea what those loops are for. Jeez, be like pulling a gun out of your boot when you need it. Another I couldn't understand is what compelled the guy to put the hammer holster on the back of his belt. Could not imagine trying to put it in or take it out. I wear a holster on my regular pants belt on the right. Have forever. Maybe that's the answer to my question. Whatever you're used to.

Back to your question..........I've only pulled a rag half way through the loop........that's all I've used them for. On a couple pair, they've got a loop on both sides. Still, can't imagine trying to hit that loophole with a hammer handle.

I doubt it mark, most of the pockets would only be for decoration............

Are those loops on the other side 'down under' ?

I have wondered a long time about those loops on the wrong side. I usually wear a tool belt with a hammer loop on the right, and also one in the back that sees very little use.
I have purchased and used different carpenters and painters pants over the years, tho, and they have ALL had the loop on the left.
Just wondering why this became the norm in a right-handed world.

But what the heck do I know?

I'm left handed, and the loop works great for me. hammer goes in easy, hammer comes out easy. whee!

Hey, I finally got 'em figured out.
I just put 'em on backwards!

Seriously, why not put loops on both sides?

because then you'd be tempted to carry two hammers...and think how much trouble that could get you into..
