We pull tape from the house and snap a line from the bumpout on our first row so our rows stay straight.

Hi Bob:

Nice website! Are you getting any business you would have not normally received from it? I would think it would be great for prospective customers to sit down and view some of the pics for ideas.

Bob,

That's neat, a little different than what I do. What's the wood? Cedar?

Thanks Ken - I get a call a day from my hyperinks to local lumber yards.I also get 1-2 calls a day from my Trex hyperlink. I only refer people to my site so they can qualify the kind of work I do. I don't get many calls from it.How did you drop that wylie coyote on your page?

Hehe....good ole' wylie and the roadrunner...one of my favorites. I've been having some fun after discovering the image search at google. Once you get there and find what you want right click and check the properties tag. Copy the url and paste it here. Then all ya gotta do is add after it.

Lesse if the roadrunner is in...

Bob, how's about a detail of the "legs" for those benches? And, do you find the cedar more stable than wolmanized at those mitres? Funny how wolmanized dries at a different rate on those angle cuts.

Thanks Armin- the customer will put on Superdeck transparent stain on when we are done. I used to stain decks but I would rather get on to the next job and let the customer get all the credit for the end result.:-)

Calvin- the bench supports are hem/fir incised presure treated cut at 16 1/2" routed with a 3/4" round to eliminate snagging. We top notch each support to run our wire through.
I use treated instead of cedar because it does not leave water wicking marks on the sides.
I use clear cedar for all my beches and try to mix dark and light colored wood for more detail/interest.

Pretty much Mark- 2x6 joists set on 2x4 beam run set on concrete patio with 4x4 posts (1"-3") every 2'. The section on the grass is set on 4"x8"x16" solid concrete blocks which are set in 4" sod cut outs. The ground is rock hard and we don't have much a frost line here.
The only problem with a deck like this is that there will not be enough air flow underneath to prevent premature deck rot .
I wish we could have stepped up one more level fom the house.
