Yeah Newf, the DEET works, trouble is it desolves anything it comes in contact with, sunglasses, watches etc. I have a small bottle left from an old army buddy, use it if I have to go deep in the swamp on fence repair detail. Two years ago my wife went to the fair and came back with a complete bugg suit (now sold by Cabellas) hooded, full face jacket, pants and gloves. The stuff is made from industrial strength bugg netting, I call it Northern Michigan sexy lingerie.

Isn't the repellant Muskol very high in DEET? That's the one I've always considered "the best".
I hate mosquitos.
I saw one of those bug shirts at a kayak show. Looks kinda goofy for mowing the lawn or some such activity, but I may break down and get one this year.

Jim, I suppose the bug suit looks kind of dorky but then I never considered myself much of a fashion icon. I don't like wearing one simply because looking through the netting makes everything look fuzzy. Blacking out the eye area with a felt marker helps cut the distraction but it's still a royal pain to wear one. My wife wears one all the time, for me it's the method of last resort.
The mosquitos are bad enough but we have two other flies that are unique to this area, for starters there is what the locals call the fish fly, I don't know the official name, but they are the size of a large house fly and hatch out in deep clear water. For some reason they are sensitive to heat and humidity and go totally beserk when conditions are right. They like dark clothes and it's not uncommon to be covered by hundreds at a time. They don't just sting like a normal fly but will take a hunk of flesh right out of you. No known repellent seems to work against them. Fortunately they don't come inland very far and are only a problem on those super hot humid days. The other mega pest is the no-see-um, tiny little piece of crap that is small enough to go through window screens, enough to drive anyone nuts. This is the big reason summer is my least favorite time of year. Standing joke around here is when you quote a job during bugg season you add another 5% for repellent.

Deet does not go good with a bagel, suggestion lets have coffee in the screen gazebo. Jeez, there must be something better to talk about first thing in the morning.

Sorry, didn't mean to spoil your appetite......
It's now 5:48 pm and a bourbon on the rocks with a slice of lemon would go just fine.........
