I decide not to sign up for the Tavern when teh changes were brought in, I found some of the war lovin' and intolerant posts were aggravating me and insults were just increasing so I thought I don't need this best to chill out and leave to the others who enjoy it.
Now speaking about brewing coffee when we were in the states (last time was '96 ) all we could get was brewed coffee (usally brewed to an inch of its life) where as here its all expresso machines just about evry shop that sells food big or small has one, we even have our own at home which makes real coffee, has coffee making changed since '96? or is brewing still the norm.
Cheers,
John

John,

Well, as to the tavern............if I were to respond to all the right wing crazies I'd go nuts. I think those folks show the least convincing of arguments. It's always name calling and aspersion casting for the most part. If you don't smooch heiny, you're a liberal and not worthy of a place on this earth. You're right, who needs that. So, I read 'em on occasion but refuse to get involved in a non discussion-discussion.

Coffee. I brew it I guess. I put 4 heaping tblspns in the filter basket and push the button. 5 minutes later, there's a pot of coffee. I drink a few cups, add another 2 cups of water and one more heaping tblspn and push the button again. Fill the thermos and off I go. Oftentimes I'll be knee driving and pouring. I drink it all day.

Coffee.
When my ex and I split up in '97, I didn't get away with much stuff.
The coffeemaker stayed with her.
I had a medium size metal perculator that was in my camping gear. I'll never forget that first cup of coffee I brewed up in that thing. Best coffee I had drank in years! Fresh and hot (gotta be real hot), I fill up my covered travel cup and I am good to go.
From then on, I still make my java in that perker.

Usually only drink in the morning.

(usally brewed to an inch of its life)

That's just the way coffee is supposed to be!
I'll start my first cup by 6:30 am and will stop around 7:30 at night.

Yes, I am a caffine addict.

A couple of years ago, we took a 2 week trip to England.
Nowhere was I able to get a good cup of coffee - except at the airport. It was either instant or really weak (sometimes both). We hope to go back in a couple of years and a coffee maker is going with me.

Terry

I guess you have to be brought up on brewed coffee, give me coffee from an expresso machine any day over the brewed, stewed version it must be like eating Vegemite here in Oz you have to grow up with it.Coffee I only have on the weekends usually its tea cause the coffee keeps me awake at night worrying about work.
Cheers,
John

Well, it could be worse. Just think if all you had to drink was instant. Take a teaspoon or so, put it in the cup and add boiling water. Voila'...coffee. Or I thought it was until I discovered about grinding up the bean yourself not too long ago.
But those expressos are a different story. I have to really watch 'em or I'll be out sweeping off the driveway at night.
Which isn't too bad except it's a dirt drive.

I must confess I'm not a big cofee or tea drinker. I do have one cup to start the day ( no breakfast ) and that's made on milk ( I can hear all you diehard black coffee drinkers shudder ) which is all I have 'till smoko time.

Smoko is morning tea I guees it was named by our aussie forefathers a quick smoke was probably all they were allowed to have.
Mark, we still call it 'smoko' also, but 90% of my subs don't smoke (we are working on the other 10%)my plumber is the only regular subby who smokes and I'm always at him to give up.
I wouldn't hire a chippy who smokes (grumpy old bugger I am) cause it sh*ts me breathing in cig smoke, sorry to offend the smokers out there.
As for the coffee I also have mine with milk, expresso is to strong for me, but I only drink tea at work, smoko and lunch.

cheers,
John

Thanks John Red,
So, smoko is the name of a tea usually drank only in the mornings, the name of any tea drank during a morning break, or the name of that morning break in which tea is drank?
Would 'chippy' be a name for a carpenter?

No not were not there yet, smoko is just morning break not just about tea your number 3 version is just about right for me anyway, some trades would be a can of coke and a coffee scroll (don't ask!) boy we sound like some tea sippin' little pinky out gentlemen, and yes a chippy is a carpenter.

cheers,
John

Or a crumproll.
Like a crumpet, but if you set it down, it rolls away.

Well. I am not a dough nut. Some guys are with three every morning or the don't feel normal.

Those donuts can really add to the waist line thus causing a certain lacking of vitality to the everyday well being.

That's one line of waste I try to keep in check. Tho' I do gots da gut I don't need to be adding to it.

don't be waisted

I can testify to that. I struggle with my krispy kreme addiction everytime I go in the store. Some days I win. Some days the demon wins. I never complain about the outcome though.
