I copied this from the Tavern over at Breaktime. The post is from Brian (Dieselpig) from just outside of Boston. He attended the JLCLive show in Providence R.I. recently and picked up this book, The Carpenters Notebook, by Mark Clement. Mark is an editor with Hanley Woods Magazines, publishers of Tools of the Trade. Brian liked it alot and I thought some here might want to take a look. Here's Brians post:
The Woodshed Tavern - "The Carpenter's Notebook" Subscribe From: dieselpig Mar-18 10:01 pm To: ALL (1 of 9) 55753.1 While at JLC live yesterday I bought a copy of Mark Clement's, "A Carpenter's Notebook". I started reading it last night in my hotel room and finished reading it just this evening. It's impossible to put down. What a perfectly wonderful story full of life's most important lessons told from a perspective I could really relate to. One of the best reads I've had in a long time. I believe it's one of those stories that will stick with me for a long time and that I'll continue to draw from for many years. For comparison, "Where the Red Fern Grows" was another story that touched me in a similar way.... simple but remarkably meaningful at the same time. I really believe that this story has renewed some of the feelings I have for many of the most important people and things in my life. Thank you Mark Clement.
If you have read it, I'd like to hear your thoughts. And if you haven't read it, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy for yourself. It's a great snapshot of how perfectly imperfect being a member of the human race can be.
You can read more about the book HERE
For a signed copy you can use a "message box" in the order process to request a signed copy. Or if you're like me, call Theresa at 202-258-7501 to order and make the request. She's a human being and that's nice. In either case, tell them (or write in the box) that you learned about it here at Quittintime.
Hopefully the Publisher can be talked into donating a copy to auction here. I don't know, all I can do is ask.
Thanks Brian for bringing this to our attention.

Thanks Cal. Looks like a good read. Tell you what. I'll donate a copy to whoever can post what I feel is the funniest joke here in "Your Shout'. Let's make the cut off this coming Monday 12PM PST. You may want to let 'em know in the Tavern 'cause I haven't asked for the secret handshake yet.
regards
