Ye Olde Bead Plane
      #8796 - Tue Nov 16 2004 12:58 PM Attachment (92 downloads)

A donor has graciously sent me a pic of an old bead plane he wishes to put up for auction here, with proceeds going to the site. I'm trying to get some story on it if he knows, but from the looks of it, this very well could be a hand made tool with quite a bit of history. For the donor to part with it means alot to us here at QT. We'll let this bidding go for a bit so those that have a penchant for tool collecting can have a chance at it.

Well, in keeping with the "olde" way of spelling, I inadvertantly used the olde english meleoration of the pronoun pluperfect......Thank you for calling my attention to it.

Hopefully I got it closer this time.

Alright, Mr don't know round numbers bids 14.78..........

And Terry, mr. A little late on the trigger, counters with 25.00 big ones!

Thanks Terry, now we have 25.00 that would surely please the old guy that made this fine tool.

I'm thinking it's got a bit more history than that.

Who's thinking along the same lines.

Do I hear another higher number?

And thank you very much to KK and Terry for getting this started and the anonymous donor of the item. QT is in one of those positions again that commonly is called a rock and a hard place. Some of our original contributors from the beginning have been (check this out Ken) graciously re-upping their pledge to keep this site up and running. They answered my plea for some more support after my review of the coffers. Thanks to all of you, without your support and interest, the future would be pretty bleak.

I bid $27.31.
This plane looks older than Mike Smith.

Cool!

Mr. I hate zero's has upped the ante a bit.

We now have the ubiquitous 27.31

And a bit of a jab at one of our seniors here on the board.

Thanks Ken!

Anyone else got an opinion on the age of smitty, or perhaps a bid more in line with the worth of either rare antiquity?

Calvin,
That wasn't a dig at Mr. Smith. I am honered to know someone who was around when the Dead Sea was still alive.

Where's the action. Terry? Gunner? ?

And Terry, mr. A little late on the trigger

Late on the trigger?? by 2 minutes??
Considering my typing speed, not to shabby.

$30.00

And Gunner, Tim the Yarnboy claims your not man enough to own a beading plane.
Step up and prove him wrong.

Terry

OK, my buddy mr. on time all the time has upped the bid to 30 bucks. I dasn't say that the poor old (now deceased) maker of that plane would roll in the grave knowing it's maybe destined to go for a song. Course, considering deflation...........

We have 30, anyone else want to take it higher? We have time. Tell your collector friends.

Thanks Terry!

Terry, We've had some looks on this and there appears to be a slowdown in bidding. How's about we close the bids down at 6 A.M. EST. tomorrow (Tuesday,Nov 23).

Anyone else? last chance or it goes.

Terry, you are the high bidder. I'm sure I've got it buried here somewhere, but send me your mailing address and we'll get the plane sent to you.

Thanks to our donator and thanks to you Terry.
