November Fest (DuHamel Fest?)
      #867 - Mon May 13 2002 11:13 PM

The November Fest has been tentatively set for November 2nd and 3rd. It is going to be held in Southeast Texas.

EVERYONE is invited.

Make arrangements and be ready for a "Fest of the Century"

Lots to do here, and lots to see. Gonna be lots of good people, lots of good food, and lots of stories to tell afterward.

Be there or be square!

James,

I just got my 2002 Texas State Travel Guide. Just to help out while we think about where we want to go, what city are you in/near?

Rich,

I am about 90 miles EAST of Houston.

Look at the map of Texas. Find the Louisiana border and go due south until you hit the Gulf of Mexico. Right there in the corner is Beaumont/Port Arthur. I live about 15 miles due north of Beaumont. Interstate 10 runs right through the middle of Beaumont (east/west direction), and 69/96/287 run due north. The only thing south is the Gulf of Mexico.

Easy access to Galveston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austn, etc... You can go just about anywhere in the state with ease from here.

For more info about the region, go to www.southeasttexas.com and check out the links and stuff.

Lots of hotels/motels, restaurants, and things to do and see. Very pleasant weather here in November, so be prepared to enjoy the place. We have a Pro Circuit (Senior PGA Tour) golf course, as well as some smaller ones here. I don't play golf, but can get all the info you need.

The following weekend would have been better for me.

But then, who knows. Maybe by that time I will be living wherever I lay my head, and any weekend will be just fine. LOL

Luka,

Ya gotta think positive. Everything will be done by then, all the bills paid early, and you'll be on a plane headed south on the first of November.

Say it with me (ya gotta hum it softly, kinda like a Monk's chant)....MMMMMMMMMMMM........MMMMMMMMMMM....MMMMMMMMMM.....DuHamel Fest in November,,,,,,,,MMMMMMMMMM

See ya there!

I will say Port Arthur has a wonderful hospital with a really nice ER....they give the best stitches at midnite on a Fri!
If ya ask nicely.....I'll show ya my ankle. Stories like that one are what these Fests are made for!
I will say this......acts of stupidity like that can only be done while sober....and it really sucks to drive from Houston......set up the tent.....15 min later be getting stitches.....then drive back to the camp site...pack up.....and drive back to Houston that same night! Jeff

james: you'd better name this thing before someone else does...so far duhfest is running away with it...

helen says she can book some 2-for-1 flights into houston.. but the flights for November are not on the computer yet... so when they go on.. availability might decline... the early bird gets the worm..

if you're planning on Nov 2&3... then flights and accomodations should be booked now for best prices

I like my old suggestion when the idea was earlier mooted for March this year Mike,

NoSweatFest.

By November it should have cooled off a bit. It might even by quite pleasant by then. Slainte, RJ.
