One year subscription Taunton mag up for auction
      #4897 - Sat Feb 01 2003 12:56 AM

Due to the unbelievable luck of no one who knew anyone entering the "name the photo" contests, I WON!!! a one year subscription to the Taunton magazine of my choice. At least I think that's what it is.

Instead of just taking the prize, I have decided (with a nudge from the Vice Very Important Postion, Jeff Buck) to put the prize up for auction, with the proceeds to benefit Quittin' Time.

Is a month too long?? Midnight Eastern time Feb. 28th???

Let the bidding begin.

Rich

( and Jeff )

I think a month is too long. Let's make it a week. ( it seems to work for Ebay )

That makes the finish date Feb 9 Midnight EST

regards

Mark

Terry, didn't mean to infer I didn't want to BID. I bid 30, you bid 30.............no argument here......... I BID 35 samolians . I've been hesitant to bid on anything due to the possible impropriety involved in me giving me a check and putting it in the QT account.........but then I thought heck, beats going to the P.O. Box in the cold. This way, only a cold trip to the bank..........provided I win.

Geez, now I'm confused.
If I bid $30 and you bid 35 samolians, where does the exchange rate leave us at?

Terry

That'd be the same as 35 shebleena's, or more commonly........dollars. So here we have it, you and I slugging it out over something more than semantics. Still pals right?

And thanks to Buck for the idea.

OK, I tell you what. I know if I go 45, you'll go 50.

So here's what I propose. You stay at 40, I'll kick in 10 bucks to that 40, the bid stands at 50. No one bids higher, you get the sub for 40, I cover the rest from this end. You're happy, I'm happy.............and maybe you buy me a beer if I go north or you come south. Whatya say?

It was called to my attention that perhaps I would appear to have run the bid up on compton effectively eliminating him (you) from the prize. I'm pretty sure that you (compton) wouldn't be thinking anything like that. If you are, don't.

Further, because of being treasurer, maybe it would look bad to the rest of the forum, well don't think that either.

Getting my behind outta the impropriety bucket is now what i'm gonna do. To whoever wins this bid, and it now stands at Terry's 40 bucks, goes the prize. I will match that bid with a donation in the same amount to QT. If ever we cross paths (whomever wins) they will buy me a beer.

I will no longer bid on anything at auction so no ill will is felt. However, if I really want something offered here, I'm registering as another being, bidding on it and that's that.

I like this place, nice and homey.

Calvin,

No damage done. If you want to bid, then bid away!

I was all set to counter and make this item's short stint on the block an exciting one when my ISP decided to crash. When I finally got here again, you and Terry had had a good go of it. Well played.

We will meet again...lol.

OK Terry, you are the recipient of a one year sub to a Taunton magazine. I'll need you to send me your choice, whether it is a new or continued subscription and the usual mailing address for the mag. I'll take care of getting the thing set up. Congratulations again and thanks.
