...We could fly ours down. It would require either having someone in FL to accept them or someone here to send them after we got to FL. Also, it's $$$, isn't it?
...When you get into FLA and have your phone number, e-mail it to me - we can commiserate as we unpack! ;-)
Great! Another to share the drudgery, the hernia, the papercuts.
...I'll e-mail my cell number to you - I won't be hooking up the phone until...
Please do - we have a cell right now which we'll get switched to a "local" FL # after we've landed. Thank God for national cellphone companies. I remember when Bell Atlantic (later "Verizon") wanted me to payoff the balance of my cellphone contract because I moved from NY to CO and they refused to switch the plan to CO. Yes, I was more than willing to postpone a move to take me to the love of my life because I had a cellphone contract...Not.
Congratulations on your move as well! What prompted you to move? We were between a rock and a hard place - no opportunity here and nothing for my daughter to do after graduation from HS but leave. Only 1 college in the area and if you're not into what they're doing, adios. At least in FL, she'll have choices of schools right within the state and even locally. (Could I perhaps pray she'd pursue a career in the culinary arts? Fingers crossed...) As for DH & me - we both need decent paying jobs with benes - a rare occurrence here.
I signed up with a temp agency after my seasonal job ended last year. Having the experience I have (+20 years Wall Street + 100 wpm typing), I never for a moment doubted I could get winter work. I didn't get ONE SINGLE CALL because everyone was busy hiring their sister-in-law who types 40 wpm and doesn't know $hit from Shinola. Better to give the job to a relative with whom you have to share Thanksgiving dinner than someone who's actually qualified. Good bye Jethro and Ellie Mae.
...Are you going to be near Adele?? I have to look up Port Richey on the map. My sister is working in FLA until the end of Oct - and I'll be down in Sept around the 16th. Want to get together then??
I have no idea where Adele lives ?:)? so you'd have to clue me in on that. Where is your sister working? FL is a freakin' L-O-N-G state. If you can narrow down locations - I'd love to have you and anyone else who's local visit once we're settled!

Many years ago, was a shoe polish..........like KiWi, if that rings a bell. Came about, as do alot of things, that shinola was used in the cliche': (and this must be from the latin-shinolae) "you don't know Blah from shinola". Please edit as you see fit.

My move was prompted by a desire to get my mother, who lives with me, closer to her brothers and sisters. Too much distance for critical stuff, and no one is getting any younger!
tickets for the animals were about 1/3 the cost of a regular ticket. Still - easier than loading them all in a car. That is a major hassle - I don't envy you at all, grrl.
Adele lives in the Orlando area. My sister is working in the Naples area. And yeah, the state is long, but - it is narrow! ;-)
I'll e-mail my cell to you today! Good luck!!

That's the beauty of using symbols that resemble the letter you're replacing...like $ for s in $hit. I'm not for utterly vulgar, cringing language on a public board but he's right... Blah from shinola loses something.

ROFLMFAO !!!!
Ok guys, I will remove "Shit" from the auto-censor.
(BTW: We don't have the kind of control that would allow a specific word to be replaced with another specific word. We have a list of words that are to be censored. And only one word to replace any and all of them with. "Blah". We can't even make up separate 'lists'. We have only one list, and only one replacement word. This may be something that I will ask about/suggest at the software forum.)

Luka, I love the kitty photos that appear beneath your name, even the little white one that looks like he got an electric shock.

Kai, you can put in a picture your own self.
They are called "avatar's". The place where you go, and how to do the deed....
Right click on this link, and choose to open in a new window, so that you can keep this one open, and have the information in this post at hand, while you work...
http://curve.phpwebhosting.com/~luka/ubbthreads/categories.php?Cat=
Now, go to the top of the page, and click on "My Home".
When you get to the my home page, scroll down to where you can edit "Personal information, email, password, etc.", and click on that edit link.
In the next page, scroll almost down to the bottom, and find the box for "Your Picture (Entire URL - Picture size is 65x75 pixels)"
In that box you need to enter the entire url of the place where your picture is located. The picture has to be online somewhere.
Now, a few things...
1. The picture will show up here as 65x75 pixels. It doesn't matter much what size the picture is that you link to, this forum will resize it to 65x75. So if you choose a large picture that will be a meaningless blob if made smaller, that is what you will get, a meaningless blob.
2. The size of the file will make a difference as well. If you choose a picture that has a large file size, no matter what the screen size is, it will take forever to load, every time someone opens a post that you have made.
so, 3... try to keep the size of the picture down, in file size. And try to select a picture that will not be meaningless or distorted if it is automaticaly resized to 65x75.
And last... I have made a section in the archives especialy for people to upload their pictures to be used for avatars. http://curve.phpwebhosting.com/~luka/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=avatars&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0
1. Go there, and make a post. You can respond to my test thread, or you can make your own. Doesn't matter.
2. Choose to preview your post. You will then be given the option to attach a file. Attach your file, and submit. Then WAIT for it to complete uploading. You will know when everything is finished, because you will be brought back to your post, and the file will be attached. It shows as that blue link under your name, on the left... Attachment
3. Now, right click on that blue link. Select, "copy link location".
4. Now, go back up to the "my Home" instructions I gave above, and paste what you just copied, into that url box I pointed out.
Now your avatar should appear with every post you make.
You can change it any time you like. The old one will stay with any post that was made while you had the old one. The new one will appear with any new post you make, until you change it again.
One last to everyone... If you choose a picture that is so large that it causes a slowdown whenever someone opens a post that you made, you will be getting an email from me asking you to change it. I will help you to resize it if needed. But I would be remiss in my duties if I let the whole works slow down for one avatar. LOL

This thread started out about the lack of posts, went to relocation and moving pets, turned into a lesson in avatars. Just what you're not allowed to do @ Chef Talk... A TANGENT! (My favorite ) The natural flow of conversation - a great thing.
