Send Bob Walker to Haiti

Bob wanted this posted here after I asked. You may not agree with his politics but he is "walking the walk".

* The Woodshed Tavern

I'm looking for pledges (promises) to determine whether I can afford to go to Haiti to work on a now critical water project near Les Ceye, Haiti

(that is - tell me now if you will be willing to contribute - tax deductible - to help me fund my mission trip - no actual donations to be made until I now if I have the funding.)

Missions International of America ("MIA"), www.missionsinternationalofamerica.com, has, among other things, dug a well near Les Ceye, Haiti - about 140 miles west of Port Au Prince, and a major target/goal for refugees from Port site

The well currently relies on diesel power to pump water, but MIA has just shipped a set of solar panels (donated by a leading US solar panel company - First Solar) to its project site.)

Diesel is becoming (or has already become) impossible to get there, however, and we need to get the solar installation done.

MIA is assembling a team to install the panels -- the first people for an temp installation in a day or two, the rest to follow ASAP. (We're shooting foranout a month from now, subject to fund raising and transportation*) (After the current emergency, the well and pump will also be used to irrigate and provide water in a basically desert area along 6 miles of pipe donated by a Rotary group: pipes

I've been asked to be on the team, but need about $2400 to finance my costs.

Bob Walker
Please email any pledges to rjw.grace@gmail.com through my BT profile.

Thanks in advance

---------------
*Amazingly, the current transport problem is from here to florida.

From Florida,we have regular US army transport to Jamaica, and from Jamaica, we have chartered (with a number of other mission groups) 5 flights a day (12 passenger plane) to Les Ceye!

When Bob posted at BT Mike Smith suggested he post at the other sites. When I emailed Bob saying I was in I offered to post for him since he didn't post at these sites. Some people let their politics cloud what little sense they may have.

this guy insults people with his arrogant pride all day long an then wants something from them and wont ask himself???

He can KMWA too if he thinks hes gonna get a nickel outta me

I think its a lack of respect of the people hes asking and his own self pride

Ron, I think I get your point and don't agree with it.
But I just stopped by to mention that there's not much need to repeat it anymore.

thanks.

Mike,
Be more than happy to rcv donations either paypal or via mailbox (but I see bob may have the mail type figured out)

I'll post the notice of collecting the pledges and donations as soon as someone gives me the word.

While I've got your ear-Domain Name?

I agree Ron,

Whenever I decide to help anyone or support anyone, I just do it. I don't solicite money or help from anyone else to make me look good or to help me feel better than I am.

I'm already paying for troops and government aid to Haiti through my taxes without my permission.

Haiti is second only to Afghanistan in receiving foreign aid from Canada.

I'm tired of building palaces for the leaders of "poor" countries while the general population receives pennies on the dollar, if their lucky.

Yes it's a human tragedy what has happenned in Haiti, but it's a job for the UN as an international military effort.

Gabe

Calvin,

I am certain, Rez would have wanted this done.

Go for it !

And from now on, we'll just call it the Rez Fund whenever we do this sort of thing.
