What a great little boat, laid out with alot of thought.

Any chances to drag the kids behind it?

No ski'ing or tubing but it will drag the occasional kid. We asked about ski's ... me and Cath haven't ski'd for years, she used to ski all the time ... I got up on a pair when I was about 20 ...

then out with her when we were dating, her brother had a little boat. She went ... did real well ... so then I had to pretend to.

Funny ... she was telling her cousin, "yeah, Jeff can water ski ... we went once years ago ..." I had to break it to her ... that was only my second time ... but when yer hot chick date shows she can water ski ... ya damn well better learn real f'n fast yerself!

She had no clue I was making it up as I went along.

Told her ... seems I do it every 10 or 20 years ... so guess I'm due again. Woulda been nice water to give it another try. Wide open and faily calm / flat.

Jeff

This was sposed to be the big year , to get them all up and proficient on skis. Weather has absolutely sucked. They've all advanced a good bit - even got connor up on the kneeboard (225 lb) - Paige was absolutely ready for skis, and the weather took a dump again...

Capt. J and another sucker on a rope...

16, 12, 10.

The smaller they are the quicker they pick it up. Trevor picked up the kneeboard the first time out. Paige was up before I could turn around to tell her what to do. I've got them leaning hard to cut now, tryin' the let them get a feel for how the water reacts. Then the skis will make more sence to them.

Had them all ready to take off and sail on the boards too - weather took a dump on that too. Lookin' for the first next warm spell to get that in their heads while it's fresh...

You friend would be welcome.

How's your weather looking this weekend?

In Pgh it's gonna be sunny and close to 80. But we're heading to the woods ... always about 5 or 6 degree's cooler there. Our "close to 80" is gonna be their "closer to 70".

Nights here are to be around 60 .... closer to low 50's in the tent. Kids will have sweats and lotsa extra socks for sleeping.

Thinking the little chill will mean no lake swiming and way more kayak time, which is fine by me! Also hearing the temps are bringing bigger fish closer to shore at night.

The wife's not 100% sold on the idea but I want at least one more long weekend, sometime in Fall, in the tent ... then at least one nice weekend camping in the snow ... that'll be in a cabin with fireplace.

I've been looking at snowshoes ... but even the cheap ones ain't cheap. For the very limited use they'd see just can't afford to outfit the family for a hike thru the snow.

Might just get some drywall bucket lids and make our own!

Jeff

Looks like it may make it out of the seventies...

Hell, it was 40 something last night... In august...please...

It's always cooler here on the lake too. Luckily we're right on an adjacent shallow cove - water is like bathwater. Looks like a hotub in winter when it starts really cooling down...

I'm trying to plan for a chance to get them up on the skis, and movin' on the boards this weekend. Been swamped with work. It aint my style to say no to good paying work - but I am at a point where I can't do it all. Thinkin' I'll make one more fun weekend this weekend, then hunker in on the workload 'til xmas...

Loaded some pics of teachin' the kids to sail here;
http://s379.photobucket.com/albums/oo239/A_JHOLE/water/

Luka woulda killed me if I tried to put even one of those pics here - Got a new camera - set to high resolution 'til I/we figure all of it out - each pic starts out at about 400K. Took all day to load them up to photobucket...I got more. Gotta streamline the sizes...

A cabin w/ a fireplace works best with a grandparent/babysiter - offsite...Don't send pics...

excellent pic of "fatherin' " there ... stand on shore with a can O beer!

Looked like a fun day, always something I've wanted to try. No reason to think I could even stand up ... just looks appealing if I could even stand up once.

the babysitter idea ... that was exacly my thots! and it won't be pics ... better suited for the video camera.

Jeff

Good to see you back.

Saw in your other post that you're windin' down the siding thing. Gettin' too cold. Time for a good 6 month interior remod...

Campin' done for this year? - I assume.

Get them snowshoes yet?

How's the grasshopper doin'? He kickin' yo ass yet? Startin' his own band?

No snow shoes ... but I would love to sneak in one more tent camping trip. Hard part is finding the time this time of year.

We're also really trying to find a weekend to rent a cabin, think the kids would love that.

Widning down the pump jacks and winding down the siding job ... which is nice ... as I started siding last year right around this time. Worked a huge hardi siding job all thru last winter. Only lost 2 days due to weather.

Most mornings found me and the helper climbing out an attic window, dragging the propane torpedo heater and tank out on to an iced over pic ... and army crawling our way down on hands and knees melting the ice as we went.

Temps are just starting to dip now ... I'm amazed at what we got used to last winter!

As it is ... presented a proposal for a full basement conversion that's start pretty much immediately after the siding job is done. Would make for around 4 months of inside work.

Wouldn't know how to act. I came in higer than the competition ... so she needs a coupla days to think and crunch numbers. Fri is decision day.

Just yesterday I took a quick look at another hardi siding job ... they want to talk to the designer I work with as the house is T-111 on the top story and battle ship gray brick down below ... and all she knows is she hates the exterior.

Definitely not as big a siding job as the last two.

First one was 40sq and current is 30. but those big ass sheets of hardi, 10ft'er cut down to 9ft.

Job I just looked at is around 15sq.

My luck ... I'll lose the basement and the siding lady will suddenly pick a style and new color scheme ... and I'll be outside with the siding gun again!

and up on those damn pump jacks ...

kid got pulled aside in karate class by the sensei for a little one on one. That's a sign he's getting close to earning a stripe.

and he just started picking up his little guitar a bit more often ... and saying he needs a new amp. Buddy helping me on the siding plays, and just happened to have a nice small amp in his van he asked if I wanted. He's gonna clean it up and trade for $10 and a nice lunch.

Probably a $50 amp in beat condition. He'll have it looking almost brand new. Kid will be thrilled.
