Auction: ROTOZIP
      #12359 - Thu Apr 23 2009 10:55 AM Attachment (75 downloads)

Ted's been gracious enough to put up for auction this slightly used Rotozip. He's replacing the collet. This unit should be good to go.

He will ship (usmail) to anywhere in the "lower 48". Anyone outside that are will need to pay for the shipping.

I'm having trouble getting the picture over here from BT-seems to be appearing as a bitmap image which we don't support evidently.

I'll keep trying or maybe Ted will see this and get me a jpeg.

Thanks and good luck.

Here you go.

Picture looks fine to me

I just want everyone to know this item is in perfect working condition. It was used only a couple of times, and I have 2 dewalts that I normally use, which is why I decided to contribute this one here to Quittin Time.

It currently has the 1/4" collet but will have the 1/8" and/or the 5/32" collet(depending on what's available at the local home depot) by the time this auction is over. So bid high, bid often! I'd like to see this tool generate some action!

Thank you Terry, 25.00 it is.

I'm sure there'll be a groundswell of support here, tho it might take a bit of time to spread the word.

Thank you for checking in and as always, for you support!

We have 25, do I hear 30?

Thanks Mark!
We have a moderately conservative bid of 30 bucks.

Shall we take this a bit higher? Don't wanna insult the donatee.

Heck, I might even get in one it. Never owned or used one, what's it like?

Heard it was the ticket for grinding a bit of strike plate for that fine tuning on a door that won't catch.

Not sure I'd use it for drywall, old school and all.

But how about some more info on the mystique of the rotozip?

"Not sure I'd use it for drywall, old school and all."

Before I had my first spiral saw (rotozip), I'd measure the mud ring of each and every outlet - left side, right side, top and bottom, then cut each side with my utility knife or that little pointed drywall saw. Or in the case of ceiling fixtures, measure 2 directions to the center of the circle, get out the compass and draw my circle, then gut with knife or saw. If my measure is just a little bit off the hole doesn't line up when I lift the dw into place, leaving me having to fuss around with it a bit more and sometimes having to patch around the hole when I'm mudding.

Does any of that sound familiar?

Well, with a rotozip on hand I simply measure to somewhere near the center, within a half inch us usually fine. Then I lift the dw into place, screw or nail enough to hold it there, and take about 20 seconds to make a perfect cut around the mud ring.

Old school = at least 10 minutes per cut, sometimes have to fuss with it while hanging the dw and fix it with mud later.

Rotozip = less than 1 minute, and assures an perfect fit every time.

Of course, there has to be a way to protect the wires. Part of my preparation before hanging dw is to stuff the wires into the box and mash a piece of cardboard to hold them in there. Sometimes that can't be done, and so measure and cut them old school style.

One of these days Ted,
One of these days.

Alright, I'm gonna put a deadline on this, we've had a couple dedicated bids and then a stall. I'm sure the winner will be happy with the deal, the tool and the good feeling of donating to keep this site available.

Midnight tomorrow nite est, wed. the 29th.

Any new bids?

thanks!

Holy Smokes, the "Right" is on this roto full force!

Thanks brother, we'll put you down for 40 and tell all that when the clock here at my desk hits midnite tonight, that's the end.

You of course will have to wait till tomorrow as I'll probably be in dreamland when that happens.

Thank you very much,
and good luck!

Whelp, it's been done again.

The rotozip has been donated back for re-AUCTION!

Thanks Frammer53, now known to us here as David. A guy this generous is now on a first name basis.

How generous you ask? More than the re-donate. Dave overpaid the winning bid price also.

So a BIG THANK YOU Dave!

So Ted, what are we to do here. Put it back on the block or perhaps follow the lead of Dovetail I think it was and donate it to this summer's BT Fest out at the Blodgetts in Yelm, Washington? They could use some door prizes, everyone loves door prizes.

What do you think? I'm asking Daves opinion also.

Dave, I know you said put it back up on Auction, but what about this idea. On the previous auction for the finish nailer donated by FHB.Com, Dovetail I think it was donated it to this summer's Fest out at Blodgetts in Yelm, Washington. What do you think?

Whaaa???

Okay, I can play rotozip tag with the best of ya. What I think? hmmmm...

The way I see's it, I put it up for auction, Dave won it, he gave it to QT, and so that's who it belongs to - so tain't my decission to make.

However, there is the ol' saying "What goes around (roto), comes around (zip)". In that spirit, I say pass it on to BT fest.

I just need an address where to send the durn thing.

Alright Ted, let's not get impatient. In the interests of a more Democratic society.............

I'll wait on Daves response and hunt up Jim's package mailing address.

Thanks again for all you've done and of course, the mailing too!
