All's well in the world now that Bobbys back in town.

I' worried for Cal tho. With so much extra blood going to only one side of his brain for the next three weeks, will he start thinking different?

Hey cal, which side did they do, the right side or the wrong one?

Hey, while we're on the subjects ( bacon and arteries)
I just had my annual physical.
Now my Dad's cholesterol ran right at 214 - 220 all his life.
Mine has been 214 most of my adult life.

Last couple years, it was sneaking up 221 and then 227. The doc looked me in the eye and said, I think you should seriously consider some medication for this condition....

Now I've seen my wife go thru every med they have for that from Lipitor on up or down the line. Every one gave her muscle pain and cramping and a dry cough.

so with my main problems being fibro - muscle pain - and asthma - stress induced making me cough - the LAST thing I want is a med that will cause that.

And none of those meds ever helped lower her numbers a bit. She finally did it with diet and excercise.

So last year, I told the Doc, "No thanks, I'll get it down with dieet"

She laughed and said, "Yeah sure, we'll see"

So this past year has been more oatmeal and beans, less sausage and bacon, and trim the good tasting fat off the edges of my steak.

This year's the cholesterol is down to 207 with an increase in the HDL for a better ratio!

Oh, and the triglycerides dropped from three hundred and something to 107

Now if I can just get my self over on that dusty old treadmill...

when we get older, some of this stuff starts to sink in, doesn't it?

I'm sure they'll take it a step further for a better picture. Definitely something us old hard livin' goofballs need to be serious about. I've been healthy so long I never gave it a thought. A physical started the process. We owe it to our family if no one else.
Best of luck in the prognosis.

Paul, somethings don't even tell the tale. My cholesterol 180, blood pressure occasionally higher, but usually 120. Seems maybe my family history might be an indicator, which is what suggested the neck sonogram and MRA. Whatever, they know more than we do about this stuff.

Now wood rot, a different story.

Next, we'll have to discuss the health insurance coverage. While I had thought we had reached the limit and then complete coverage.........I think now maybe I'm looking at 20% we've got to take care of. 20% of alot is a quite a bit.

Wonder if the surgeon would be needing a good carpenter.

I certainly knew you weren't overweight, and BP sounds good! Mine runs 124/70

Did you have any symptoms you noticed or just something the docs picked up on?

You bet it is. I get free care through the VA, but my wife has had a few procedures the last couple years and man....you get your hands on a cost break down you wanna shoot someone......

Good news is that in Ohio they cannot take your house from you to pay medical bills..........I owe SO much....a little at a time........

Sometimes you can talk to them and get a reduction for the after medicare part.. I did/do. ...........and I don't feel bad doing it once I realized the amount of over charges they padded the bill with.

My favorite one.......I shot a spike through my ankle bone once.....ER pulled the nail, cleaned out the hole....sent me home.......sent bill with a breakdown of charges.......400.00 dollars for bandages......for a NAIL HOLE! that could be covered by a 3 cent bandaid.........

We're in the wrong business.

Calvin, I hope everything is going well. Yeah, getting old is not for sissies. I'm like you, healthy but about 10 years ago my BP shot up and now I'm on two meds. Hate it, but it is under control.

Take it easy and good luck on the next one. Carole

Maybe! It's amazing what a lack of estrogen will do.

No symptoms, just at the physical they concentrated a bit on the neck because my long deceased father had a series of strokes at 56.

The way they bill (wording/provider/and duration b/4 they even get you an invoice) is enough to make a man cry. I've run a business for years and know where every penny comes from and goes to. I don't miss a 2 dollar mischarge. With these operators you have to be a mind reader and hopefully keep a good diary of all the things you see and hear during a procedure. Should be interesting.

Hey, Calvin-

I hope you're recovering well from your surgery, and that Joyce is taking good care of you.

You getting any extra strange thoughts now that you have all that extra bloodflow to the brain? LOL

Looking forward to playing golf with you again.

Bob

The strange thoughts might be..........

Doing nothing of substance is fun?

Reading is overated, makes me sleepy.

Sitting isn't me.

Things like cleaning the clubs goes fast.

Shaving and missing the cut area is tough. And what's up with the numbness well around the incision? Try shaving that numb part. Weird, don't like that neither.

But the concern and good wishes are heartwarming. Another thing on the list to be thankful for this year.

Actually I believe they slip all that stuff in cause they suffer from the 20.00 screw syndrome........and they can get away with it.

I jump right in there swinging, no holds barred, with these guys (doctors also)

the bill for the spike was paid for others, but it didn't matter to me, it's the principle of the thing . . . .they canceled a lot of the overages.

Doctors, lawyers. Indian Chiefs get the same treatment........most of the time they give in cause they know what they are doing.......... my credit rating remains perfect.

If I build a house like those guys bill a client.......a 1200 sq' ranch would go for 1.5 mill. Don't be afraid to attack back.
